Caulfield  9.12.66   Defeated    Old Melburnians   2.13.25

A very tough and even contest awaited us for the preliminary final. Stating the obvious a win for either side booked a place in the Grand Final.

Kicking with a 1-2  goal wind in the 1^st we started well  getting the ball inside forward 50. Matt Ball looking dangerous in the contrast and also passing off to others.  A classic first goal with Nixon front and square of the contest to gather the loose ball and a nice snap around the body from 35 out…a good start. Another goal to Ball for the quarter. Harris, Webster, Spielvogel, Tonilio , Baltas playing well.  We kicked 2-5 to O/M’s 3 points. A good start but probably should have been another goal or two in front.

Second quarter was just an arm wrestle. No goals kicked by any side but O/M’s missed some chances that should have been taken. At half time we led by 14.

The second half was a slow grind to ascendency. The whole team lifted and converted the chances that were missed in the first half. Blaich returning after injury was strong at full back while Baltas, Harris, Wigney were good around the ground. Also nice to see Fynmore returning to early season form.

This was a even team effort, everybody contributed and played their role
