Under 19s match Report: ROUND 2
CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS vs de la salle
Match Report:
By David Gregor
After a hard fought victory against Parkdale confidence was good coming into the game and we started well with Jesse Patrick kicking the opening match goal and could have slotted another soon after. De La came responded and kicked the next 3 goals. The game was very open and free flowing unlike the Parkdale game that was a “in and tight and stoppage” contest.
In the 2nd quarter De La dominated and held a commanding lead at the half time break. Certainly their ball movement and spread worried us and we didn’t hold our structure too well. The half time address by PK was positive but to the point and the lads came out and really reversed the game De La was playing and executed well. Seb Tobian down back was playing his best club game, while Charlie Ingham, Bobby McGivern, Lachie Stephens were tireless and 2 goals to Dean Salter on his trusty left foot meant we had a great quarter. We kicked 4 unanswered goals, however against the run of play De La kicked one very late in the quarter to lead by 33 points.
While we had the momentum going into the last and we had a few chances to put further scoreboard pressure on but we fell away and eventually went down by 48 points.
Caulfield Grammarians 8 - 9 - 57 defeated by De La Salle 16 - 9 - 105
