RESERVES match Report: ROUND 1 -
CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS VS OLD Haileyburians
Match Report:
by Seb Gotch
A Round 1 win against Haileybury has kick-started our 2019 campaign exactly the way we wanted. An overwhelming buzz lingered around the club early on Saturday morning on the back of some first class recruits joining the squad over the summer months and these recruits sure didn’t disappoint bringing with them a fiery start to the first game of the season.
A clear focus on ‘caring for your teammates’ reigned supreme from our midfield brigade as we piled on the first 21 goals of the game. The greatest challenge of the epic battle was squeezing a 22-man effort into a 6 best players award, however I have somehow managed to do so.
With great expectation comes a sense of responsibility, recently appointed co-captains Will Kingwill and Drew Dickson have already ensured their teammates and coaching staff that no stone will be left unturned this year as they answered this responsibility with a fine display at Glenhuntly Oval.
We now need to shift our focus onto Round 2 where we will be facing serious premiership contender St Bedes however I’m sure, like me, you will all be eager to test yourselves on the big stage.
Your reserves coach, Basman.
Caulfield 22-22-154 defeated Old Haileyburians 1-1-7
