Seniors match Report: ROUND 2
ST BEDES/MENTONE TIGERS vs CAULFIELD GRAMMARIANS
Match Report:
By Seb Gotch
The St Bedes challenge..
A trip out to Mentone provided a timely test to an eager Reserves side.
A brilliant first quarter full of run and excitement allowed us to break out to a 5 goal lead, Jackson Small proving to be a very handy inclusion as our midfielders were finding plenty of it around stoppages.
The next 3 quarters told quite a different story; a determined St Bedes found some incredibly damaging run off the half back line which we had no answers for.
A courageous defensive group led by co captain Drew Dixon, mixed with the fresh faces of Max Cantfield and James Edwards and the experience of Hugo Gates saw us hold the dam wall shut for an extended period of the match.
If not for some inaccurate kicking very late in the last the Fields may have escaped in a nail biter.
With Easter around the corner we now have time to reflect, the great thing about challenges is they demand a response, come Round 3 our opportunity to prove ourselves as a contender in this competition starts again.
We’ve been knocked down but we will get up again.
Enjoy your Easter, Coach.
